Plans might be foiled for those planning on boating in the Eugene area this holiday weekend and throughout summer for that matter.
According to the Register Guard, “High fast moving water in the Willamette River has made the passage under the Interstate 5 bridge construction area so dangerous, the Marine Board has closed that section of the river to all boats from now through October.”
On their facebook page, the Oregon State Marine Board specifies that the river will be closed from the low-head dam to the end of construction and that boaters are “encouraged to pull out at the D Street Ramp and either end their trip, or portage around the construction site.”
The board even spread the news via Twitter, “Marine Board is closing a small section of the Willamette River at Springfield. High water, debris and I-5 Bridge construction project, haz.”
